The short version
ExplorePDF works with your documents on your device. The Mac, iPhone, iPad, Windows and Android apps require no account and do not upload your PDFs or images to us. On Android, you can choose to share content with another app. Platform crash reporting and this website's analytics are explained below.
This website is a separate thing and behaves like an ordinary website. Both statements are true at once, and the rest of this page keeps them apart so that neither misleads you.
Who we are
ExplorePDF is a product of AvanSaber Inc. For anything on this page, write to [email protected] and a person will answer.
The apps
What the apps collect
ExplorePDF has no account, in-app analytics or advertising identifier. It does not ask for your email address inside the app or send us your documents.
The Mac, iPhone and iPad App Store builds do not upload documents or run in-app analytics. Their shipped binaries link neither CFNetwork nor Network.framework, and a source check rejects those frameworks. The Windows build includes .NET and WebView2 runtime components with networking libraries. In tested reading and page-editing workflows, ExplorePDF opened no TCP or UDP connection.
Apple may provide developers with aggregated crash reports from users who choose to share diagnostics. Windows Error Reporting may send app crash diagnostics to Microsoft according to the device's Windows settings, and Microsoft may share crash statistics with us. Microsoft says optional crash diagnostics can include parts of a file that was open when an app crashed. These platform services are separate from ExplorePDF's in-app data collection. See Apple's diagnostics settings and Windows diagnostic settings.
What the apps do with your documents
A PDF or image you open is read from the location you chose, held in memory while the app works on it, and saved to the location you choose. ExplorePDF does not upload it to a document-processing server. On Mac, iPhone, iPad and Windows, the app writes temporary files in your system temporary directory while producing output, and removes them when it is done.
On Apple devices, ExplorePDF stores a recent-files list and any saved layout presets locally. The Windows build keeps its recent-files list in its own app data. While page changes are unsaved, it also keeps a local recovery record so it can offer to restore the arrangement after an unexpected close. That record contains file details and page order, not PDF page content. ExplorePDF does not synchronise these records between devices.
App Store builds and network requests
The Mac, iPhone and iPad App Store builds make no app-initiated network requests. They have no update check or in-app analytics. Apple handles App Store updates and may handle platform diagnostics under your device settings.
The Windows app does not connect to a document-processing server. Choosing Help opens this website in your browser, where the website practices below apply.
ExplorePDF for Android
The Android app has no account, in-app analytics, advertising or advertising identifier. It has no internet permission and makes no app-initiated upload of documents or other data. Sharing is a separate action you choose, described below.
PDFs you open are read on your device. ExplorePDF keeps a working copy and a record of unsaved page changes in its own storage so you can recover your work if Android closes the app. It does not change your original file; you choose where to save a new copy. Recent documents, your own bookmarks (page numbers only) and saved signatures also stay on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes them.
ExplorePDF asks to use the camera only when you open Scan Document. Photos taken for a scan stay in the app's storage until you save the scan as a PDF or discard it. The app then deletes those photos. Recognize Text on This Device uses a built-in English model on your device. Recognised text stays on your device. Recognition itself does not change your document; you can choose to save a new searchable copy.
When you choose Share, Share Text, Share File or Share with AI App, ExplorePDF shows what you are about to share, then opens Android's share menu. You choose the receiving app. Only that app receives the content you selected, and its own privacy policy then applies. An AI app may send what it receives to its servers. ExplorePDF does not make that choice for you.
Help and support links open in your browser. Send Feedback opens your email app with a message you can edit; nothing is sent until you send it. That message includes the app version and Android version, not document details. An installation from Google Play may ask Google Play to show its rating prompt. Google Play handles the prompt, and a review you submit there is public on Google Play.
Children
The apps are not directed at children and do not ask users of any age for an account or profile.
This website
Server logs
Our web host records ordinary access logs for the pages and files it serves: IP address, time, the page requested, referring page, and browser user agent. These are kept only for as long as they are useful for security and for diagnosing faults, and are deleted once they are not. They are never used to build a profile of you.
Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics 4, and only if you agree. On your first visit a banner asks whether to allow it. Until you accept, the analytics code does not load and no analytics cookie is set, and every Google consent signal stays at denied.
If you accept, Google Analytics records the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser type, an approximate location derived from your connection, and on-page actions such as scrolling, outbound link clicks and file downloads. We use it only to learn whether people find this site and which pages help them. It is not used for advertising: the advertising consent signals stay denied even after you accept. Google processes this data on our behalf, and we keep it for 14 months.
You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing turns the tag off and deletes its cookies. None of this applies to the apps, which do not run website analytics. The cookie policy lists the cookies involved.
Email updates
If you subscribe to ExplorePDF updates on this website, we send your email address to Brevo, our email service provider. Brevo sends a confirmation message and adds you to the ExplorePDF newsletter list only after you confirm. We use the list for practical PDF tips and product news. We do not add support enquiries or app users to it. You can unsubscribe from any newsletter or ask us to remove your address. We keep a confirmed address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
An earlier form asked people whether they wanted one email when ExplorePDF opened. That form remains closed, and its addresses are not added to the new newsletter. If you gave us an address through that form, we still hold it. We will use it for the single announcement you asked for and for nothing else, we will not pass it to anyone, and we will delete it once that announcement has been sent or once you ask us to, whichever comes first. To be removed now, write to [email protected] and we will do it and confirm.
Content delivery
This site is served through a content delivery network, which processes requests on our behalf in order to deliver pages quickly and to block abuse. It sees the same request information your browser sends to any website.
Why we are allowed to do this
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, the law asks us to name a reason in law for each thing we do with your information, so here they are.
- Server logs and the content delivery network: our legitimate interests in keeping this site available and secure, blocking abusive traffic and diagnosing faults. We have weighed that against your own interests and think it does not override them, because this is the ordinary request data every website receives, it is kept briefly, and it is never used to build a profile or to target anything at you.
- The ExplorePDF newsletter: your consent, confirmed through the email Brevo sends after you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time.
- The launch notification list: your consent, given when you typed your address into that form. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to us, and withdrawing it does not affect anything we did before you did.
- Local document processing: the apps work with files on your device. AvanSaber does not receive those documents through ExplorePDF.
Website analytics: your consent, given in the banner before the tag loads. You can withdraw it at any time from Cookie settings, and withdrawing does not affect anything recorded before you did.
What we never do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not use your documents to train anything.
- We do not run advertising, and we do not embed third party advertising trackers.
- ExplorePDF itself does not upload your files for processing. We provide no document-upload service.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict how we use it. The apps do not send your documents to us. Requests to us will usually concern an email address on a newsletter address, an address on the earlier launch list, or a web server log entry. Apple and Microsoft provide separate controls for platform diagnostics.
To exercise any of these, write to [email protected]. We will answer within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and you are not satisfied with our answer, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Where information is processed
AvanSaber Inc. is incorporated in the United States, and our web hosting and content delivery are provided by companies operating internationally. Any personal information described on this page may therefore be processed in the United States and elsewhere.
There is no European Commission adequacy decision covering transfers to the United States generally. The providers who handle this information do so only as our service providers, on our instructions, and only in order to serve and protect this website. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and you want to know which safeguards apply to a particular provider, write to [email protected] and we will tell you what is in place rather than point you at a clause number.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects what we collect, we will say so plainly here rather than quietly editing a sentence.
