Recognize text on scanned PDF pages
Turn words in scanned page images into searchable text on your device.
Android recognizes English text on the device.
Steps
Open the scanned PDF in ExplorePDF on your device.
Choose Recognize Text from the document tools. On Apple devices, it may also appear in Find & Bookmarks or the document contents area.
Choose the pages to recognize when the app offers a page choice.
Start recognition and keep ExplorePDF open until the page count finishes.
Search for a word from the scanned page to check the recognized text.
Choose Save a Searchable Copy, then choose a name and location. The searchable result is saved as a new PDF and the original scan stays unchanged.
Recognition quality
Clear, upright scans give the best result. Check names, numbers and important wording before relying on recognized text. ExplorePDF keeps the scanned page image and adds a text layer for search.
